Children in the foster care system face hardships that most of us cannot fathom. For children who cannot be with their families on birthdays and holidays, these special occasions can be difficult. The Friends of Foster Care strives to bring a little more hope and joy to the foster children we serve throughout Hampton Roads by granting birthday and holiday wishes.
Birthday Gifts That Make a Difference
We believe every child deserves to feel special on their birthday. Through our Birthday Program, we help make that happen by matching volunteers with children in foster care to provide personalized gifts.
The process is simple. Just fill out the form below to let us know you’re interested. Our birthday coordinator will contact you to learn more about your preferences, then send you the wish list of a child with an upcoming birthday.
From there, you’ll shop for brand-new items from their list, spending a minimum of $50, and help create a birthday moment they’ll never forget.
Holiday Giving That Brings Joy
Every year, thanks to our generous sponsors, more than 1,800 foster children receive holiday gifts through our program. These gifts bring joy to kids who need it most and help ease the pressure that the holidays can place on both children and foster families.
Getting involved is easy. Just complete our holiday gifting form and you’ll be matched with a child’s holiday wish list, which includes their name, age, and two to three gift ideas.
You’ll shop for brand-new items at least $75 in value and help make the season a little brighter for a child in care.
Bag, tag and itemize the gifts, then drop them off to us! We drop locations across the region to make gifting as convenient as possible. Easy breezy!
