EDY HERRERA

Director

Edy is the principal at Surrender Network, a leadership development firm in Hampton Roads. He and his wife Nikki have fostered more than 10 children and are passionate about creating a culture of belonging. Edy believes leadership is a powerful force for positive community change.

What Edy says inspired him to join the TFFC board:

Prompted by my wife, Nikki, we began our fostering journey a few years ago. Since then, we have welcomed a dozen children into our home, providing care and stability for stays ranging from just a few hours to several months. Each child has left a lasting impact on our hearts, reinforcing our belief in the power of love and support.

First and foremost, our faith calls us to love deeply and unconditionally, guiding us in every step of this journey. Secondly, our work is centered on developing leaders by enhancing their awareness and the way they lead others – skills that are just as important in parenting and fostering. Lastly, we remain actively involved in fostering children, knowing that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment.

These three elements – faith, leadership, and fostering – intersect as we participate in TFFC’s mission to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life. While we may not be able to help every child, we believe in the importance of doing for one what we wish we could do for all. Because, at the end of the day, the child is the mission.
