AUTUMN YOUNG, LMSW

President & COO

Autumn is the President and Chief Operating Officer of The Friends of Foster Care. In her dual positions she oversees program management and development for the organization, ensuring that TFFC can serve over 2,250 foster and at-risk youth annually.

In Spring of 2022 Autumn received her Master’s of Social Work from the University of Louisville. Her degree gave her practical experience as a practicum student not only at The Friends of Foster Care, but also at Portsmouth Department of Social Services in the Adult Protective Services unit. Autumn has been an avid volunteer at organizations supporting both older adults and children including at Meals-on-Wheels and the Oregon Veteran’s Home in her prior home town of The Dalles, OR, as well as volunteering with children’s ministries at her church and sitting on the board of the Blocker YMCA in Norfolk.

Autumn and her husband, Tyas, are transplants to the Hampton Roads area, having come to the region in the summer of 2020. They have four young children, Everett, Iris, Juniper, and Elias. The family can be seen attending the many extracurricular activities of their children, going to local parks, and taking their dog, Abby, on walks around their neighborhood.
