Dr. Robin Foster is a Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University and the longtime Medical Director and co-founder of the Child Protection Team, which evaluates approximately 850 cases of suspected abuse and neglect annually. She served as Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine for 20 years and continues to practice clinically. Dr. Foster is board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and child abuse and neglect.
A recognized leader and advocate for children, Dr. Foster has held numerous statewide leadership roles, including with the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and led the expansion of Reach Out and Read across the Commonwealth. She has served on multiple nonprofit boards and received numerous honors, including the MCV Physicians Distinguished Clinician Award and the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. In addition to her clinical work, she regularly testifies in child abuse cases and teaches professionals nationwide who serve children.
